Ο Robert Pinsky είναι Αμερικανός ποιητής, δοκιμιογράφος, κριτικός και μεταφραστής, γνωστός για την πρωτοποριακή τριπλή θητεία του ως Σύμβουλος Ποιητής (Poet Laureate) της Βιβλιοθήκης του Κογκρέσου των ΗΠΑ (1997–2000) και για την ίδρυση του Favorite Poem Project. Γεννήθηκε το έτος 1940 στο Long Branch, New Jersey, από Εβραίους μετανάστες γονείς και σπούδασε φιλοσοφία στα Πανεπιστήμια Rutgers και Stanford. Δίδαξε σε πολλά πανεπιστήμια, συμπεριλαμβανομένων των Wellesley College, University of California at Berkeley και Boston University.
